A treasure cave of Venetian masks

La corte dei miracoli is a Venetian atelier founded in 1994 by Annamaria Scintu and Tommaso Toffolo, two artisans wishing to keep their city's ancient mask-making tradition alive. The duo specialises in papier-mâché – a sustainable, lightweight material made from recycled paper and natural glue layers. Each of their masks is entirely handmade from these natural, non-toxic materials. Following the legacy of the mascereri, renowned mask-makers of Venice since the 15th century, Annamaria and Tommaso make traditional Commedia dell’Arte characters and theatrical masks. They also create contemporary designs, which have been featured in numerous exhibitions.
