Celebrating Venice in hats, art and costume

  • Monica loves painting and history
  • She creates special, timeless headgear
  • Imagination and traditions drive her activity

Monica Daniele is a true Venetian, with an artistic background in painting. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, where she attended the courses of Emilio Vedova, a famous Italian painter. In 1994, she decided to open her atelier to design, sew and embroider unique garments, focusing on the creation of unique hats. Her pieces are tuned with the spirit of Venice, and are inspired by Venetian history and art. Along with headgear, Monica produces tabards and gilets for private clients, and she also collaborates with directors and custom designers for film and theatre productions and events. Monica is at the head of a foundation dedicated to Giovanni Casanova, the famous 18th century Venetian figure.

Why did you choose this craft?
Firstly, because it makes me feel free and independent. And secondly, because it allows me to express my creativity.
How do you create your garments?
My creations are free, but they are influenced by many different factors: my artistic training, discussions with clients and artists, the Venetian history and culture.
What is your relationship with fashion?
I love timelessness. My creations are not meant to be fashionable, but to be intrinsically beautiful and useful. They are designed to meet and combine the tastes of the past, the present and the future.
What do you love most about your craft?
My activity gives me great satisfaction. The most rewarding result is the positive feedback from those who appreciate my creations, and I have loyal clients in every corner of the planet.
