Marrying function, form and legacy

Founded in 1966 by visionary importer Bernd T. Dibbern, the company began by introducing Scandinavian porcelain, glass and cutlery to Germany. In the early 1970s, Dibbern launched its first European-made collections. It was the 1982 debut of the Solid Color line that reimagined a 1930s design in vivid hues that transformed Dibbern into a lifestyle brand defined by iconic design and bold creativity. A pivotal moment came in 1997, when Dibbern breathed new life into Germany’s first private porcelain manufactory, originally founded in 1814 by C. M. Hutschenreuther in Hohenberg, Bavaria. Under the guidance of Bernd, the fine bone china manufacturer was revived, marrying centuries-old turning and hand casting with modern standards. The result was exceptional porcelain, handmade in Germany to this day.

Now led by sons Jan and Ben Dibbern, the manufacturer continues to merge Bauhaus‑inspired simplicity with traditional craftsmanship. Its fine bone china is renowned for unique quality and exceptional durability. Its edge resilience is said to outperform press‑moulded ware. Environmentl considerations are also woven into the operational DNA of the firm, with measures in place such as reclaimed glaze and green‑powered kilns. Dibbern’s porcelain graces Lufthansa First Class, the German Federal Chancellery, and luxury hotels worldwide, each piece a testament to a brand that blends purist design, time‑tested technique and living heritage.
