Founded in 1953 by influential designer David Mellor, Royal Designer for Industry and a key figure in British design, the company has always specialised in metalwork but is particularly famous for its cutlery, having developed an international reputation for designing and manufacturing modern cutlery of exceptional quality. Their unique ranges are renowned for a purity of design and precise manufacturing.

Many traditional hand processes are still used in its production, creating modern cutlery that is a pleasure to use. David Mellor’s purpose-designed factory, the Round Building, is located in the Peak District National Park near Sheffield, the historic centre for cutlery manufacturing. The company’s policy is to build on its heritage of traditional metalworking skills and Sheffield craftsmanship whilst making the most of evolving new technologies.
