Capturing organic movement in glass
Alexa Lixfeld is a glass artist living and working between Germany and Czechia. After spending a decade as a professional model, she redirected her career toward design and art, studying in Germany and at the prestigious Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands. Her practice centres on merging contemporary design with the finest European glassmaking traditions. Working in a distinctive and sensitive aesthetic, Alexa creates unique objects, limited edition series and bespoke installations. She has received numerous awards for her designs and is represented by leading design galleries around the world.
Stardust, a unique glass object shown at Homo Faber 2026, is a mouth-blown and freehand formed and sculpted piece crafted from handmade glass. It is inspired by the idea of a meteorite flying through space, passing through a nebula of stardust and carrying it onward as a celestial relic. Alexa created the piece using hand techniques deeply rooted in the centuries-old glassmaking traditions of Northern Bohemia.
