Founded in 2001, the Maison des métiers d’art de Québec (MMAQ) is an education, creation and research centre dedicated to the development of contemporary practices in fine crafts. The institution is situated at the heart of Quebec City and houses 25 studios and classrooms specialised in ceramics, sculpture and textiles. These provide unique life and work spaces to artists and students alike. MMAQ offers a three-year specialised college programme, courses open to the general public as well as residencies, making it a leading centre for the promotion and training of crafts of excellence in Canada. Professional activities for artists at all levels are part of the centre's research, development and innovation mandate.
