Sentiments, stories and precious metals

  • Emanuele is an architect turned jewellery artisan
  • He wants to create a bond between the jewellery and those who wear it
  • He describes his work as sculptural wearable art

Emanuele Cannoletta initially trained as an architect at the University of Genoa, before discovering his passion for working with sculptures during his postgraduate studies in Barcelona. This newfound interest led him to the Accademia di Arti Orafe (LAO) in Florence, where he developed his skills in goldsmithing. In 2018, Emanuele established Laboratorio Lunamante with his wife, a restorer and fellow LAO alumna. Emanuele's atelier is dedicated to crafting contemporary jewellery that embodies the concept of a wearable sculpture. He creates unique pieces that tell personal stories and evoke more than just feelings of adornment.

Emanuele Cannoletta is an expert artisan: he began his career in 2014 and he started teaching in 2024

INTERVIEW

Architecture shaped my artistic vision, not aesthetically, but conceptually. Like public art, I focus on the emotional bond between the piece and its wearer. I make sure my jewellery carries meaning and connection beyond just form and function.

I always ask myself what story I am telling with a specific piece of jewellery and how the meaning would change if I altered it. My work is a constant exploration of storytelling, symbolism and experimentation to create pieces that go beyond adornment.

Metal is the ink I write poems with. My jewellery transforms metal into fluid, expressive compositions. Each piece tells a silent story shaped by form, texture and movement, creating wearable art with deep personal significance.

The emotions change with each theme, but what matters most is creating a bond between the piece and its wearer. I want my jewellery to evoke curiosity, reflection and a sense of personal connection, making each piece feel uniquely meaningful.
