Bamboo, Rattan
This basket by Jin Morigami was crafted from madake, a Japanese bamboo that can be split into exceptionally fine yet strong strips. The openwork structure was created by twining horizontal pieces around vertical ones. Evoking the gentle movement of clouds drifting across the sky or waves along the shoreline, the work aims at conveying a sense of calm. Its form also recalls the opening of a flower blossom or the organic shapes of marine life.
