These sculptures by Julian Watts were hand carved from claro walnut and cherry wood, and chemically blackened throughout. Stylising natural silhouettes into surreal, anthropomorphic forms, these totemic pieces challenge spatial perception and play with materiality, giving hard wood a soft and almost fabric-like appearance.
