This sculpture by Chris Wilson was hand carved from salvaged local wood, including tupelo recovered from storm-felled trees in the early 1990s. The bird was painted to achieve an accurate and realistic effect. Capturing the essence of the vibrant common kingfisher and its habitat, the piece reflects on the bird’s importance and the interconnectedness of all living beings.
