Mother of pearl
These lamps by Myungsun Kang were built up with layers mother-of-pearl inlay over a plastic base. The process follows the traditional Korean najeonchilgi technique, which involves repeatedly lacquering and polishing the surface. Featuring biomorphic silhouettes, the pieces showcase the iridescence and light-reflecting qualities of natural mother-of-pearl.
