This chair by Balla Niang was hand carved from ven wood, selected for its pronounced grain, with the form shaped according to the material’s natural lines. The backrest features carved circular details, while the seat was sculpted for comfort. Exploring the balance between use and respect for living matter, the work preserves the wood’s original structure and veining, proposing a more conscious approach to working with natural resources.
