Palazzo Ducale
This paperweight, made of glass with manual application of pure gold leaf, holds the silhouette of Palazzo Ducale within its 8 by 8 centimeter format (the traditional dimension of gold leaf). The gold used here is among the last produced by Mario Berta Battiloro, the final European master artisan to have crafted gold leaf with the methods and tools employed in eighteenth-century Venice.
