Fibres, Wood
This chair by Azotea, entirely handcrafted in Mexico City workshops, was constructed by Raúl Guerra, and woven by Eugenio González Micaela and Jonathan González González. The core wood structure was assembled using traditional joinery techniques. The seat and backrest were woven from chuspata fibre and bleached palm. Born as a celebration of Afro-Mexican and Afro-Colombian culture, the piece evokes the tropical spirit of the Pacific, through local materials and a play of textures.
