Gwiyal bunjang puredok

This storage jar, whose name suggests its bluish tones, is formed with the surejil technique (paddle-and-anvil): clay coils are stacked, then paddled with a wooden sure (pronounced 'soo-re') against an inner dogae, leaving layered marks. Finished with white slip brushed on with a wide, coarse brush, the vessel is fired using the puredogi technique with salt-glaze firing and smoke carbonising.
