Madder, A Rooted Memory
This textile work is developed from madder cultivated and gathered in the Cognac region. The project combines invasive wild madder with cultivated Indian madder harvested fresh from the garden. Both roots were processed using slow, traditional dyeing methods. The dyed silk textile was pleated by hand into layered forms.
