Tarun Tahiliani established his design studio in Delhi in 1995, introducing a new language of Indian couture and pret that seamlessly brought together the richness of traditional craftsmanship with the precision of contemporary construction. Inspired by India’s textiles, artisanal legacies, draping traditions and layered cultural nuances, the house evolved around the philosophy of India Modern, a design language where heritage is reimagined through fluidity, innovation and a refined global sensibility.

For over three decades, Tarun Tahiliani Design Studio has brought together diverse craft traditions and communities of artisans under one roof to continue the thread, creating a unique ecosystem where heritage techniques are preserved, refined and elevated. Across India, embroidery has long existed as a language of transmission, carrying stories, skills and cultural memory from one generation to the next. Embroideries such as Kashida, Chikankari, shadow work, French knots, crystal embellishment and thread work with mother-of-pearl coexist in conversation with each other.
