Sean Gerstley is a ceramic artist working primarily with slab and coil techniques to build ceramic forms that move between sculpture and the domestic. Sean has a direct and improvisational process, with pinched surfaces and visible joins that register the movement of the hand. Vivid, often unpredictable glazes activate the surface, emphasising variation and gesture. Rather than refining towards uniformity, Sean allows irregularities to remain, treating them as integral to the work’s energy and character.
