From a flat sheet to a multidimensional sculpture, Lorraine Ding transforms fragile paper into resilient art. First introduced to paper art while studying finance at the University of Melbourne, she pivoted to master the craft under paper artist Liqun Zhu, a Shanghai Arts and Crafts Master. Through an understated form language of shifting planes and cutlines, Lorraine allows light to reveal the soul of the paper. "Creation is a journey of self-discovery, breaking boundaries, integrating diverse aesthetics and breathing new life into traditional craft," she says. Beyond her studio work, Lorraine actively promotes craft practice through commercial spatial collaborations, paper art education and public engagement.
