Construction of Light

This sculpture is made of light green laminated glass mounted on a tilted black rectangular metal frame. The inspiration was to create a massive metal structure as a symbol of the strong tradition of glass making in the Czech Republic. Bohumil Eliáš Jr. uses the transparency of the horizontal glass, which plays beautifully with light, to evoke the fragile and fleeting nature of the craft if we do not value tradition. Using glass casting, the sculpture is crafted from melted glass and metal. A dark metal bridge is positioned against a backdrop of blue spherical glass that mimics the sky.
