Popping Good Child – Bottle

These pieces are made as sculptures. They are inspired by traditional Korean potteries called JuByeong and MaeByeong. The bodies are created using the wheel-throwing technique with porcelain, and the surface layers are exploded by fire. Inside the bottle, particles on the bottom originate from the surface. The irises appear to blossom from these particles. This work illustrates the artist's oppression. To overcome the "good child syndrome" formed by her cultural background, she destroys traditional ceramics and embeds a message of hope inside.
