Ombré bench

Ombré is made from a single board of rippled sycamore. The bench is a simple square arch form with clean, mitred joinery. Large bevels remove some of the visual weight, presenting a fine, crisp edge. The ombré colour gradient is created by scorching and staining the wood. This is complemented by a carved texture which is also graduated by changing dimple sizes, the largest being at the burnt feet and diminishing through finer and finer scales to a smooth flat through the centre of the bench seat, where the natural ripple of the sycamore is displayed.
