Antique chair with new gilded leather

This antique chair has been reupholstered with new gilded leather featuring patterns evocative of the five senses. It is based on the works of Maarten van den Heuvel c 1640. Gilded leather originated in the 6th century and involves applying silver leaf to the leather, and then varnishing it, giving it a golden glow.
