Viola da gamba basso

This six-string viola da gamba bass is based on an English model. The viola was based on a model by Henry Jaye, built in London in about 1625 and now housed in the Musée de la Musique in Paris. To favour the swiftness of resonance, the soundboard has been built with Italian-style arching.
