On the east coast of Taiwan, the Kavalan aboriginal people live from banana trees. After harvesting the fruit, each stem is cut to facilitate the growth of new shoots. However, the unused flesh of these stems reveals a fascinating pattern in the light. With the Kavalan, Dorian Etienne developed a special refining technique to stabilise this plant tissue. This new material is used here in combination with local walnut circles. The piece is the result of a collaboration with Cordélia Faure.
