Flight of Horus
This sculpture is woodturned and carved from a single block of maple wood. Various specific tools, including rotary cutters and rasps, grinders and hand tools, were used to create the fine circular shape. The texture of the centre is created using a dental turbine, that allows Ludovic Deplanque to draw all the patterns. From blue to brown, the darker shades were achieved through the chemical reaction of ferric oxide. The wings of the piece have been left in their natural colour.
