Black urushi paper bench

This bench was made from pleated paper on which Pao Hui Kao applied urushi lacquer and black-coloured pigment. With her innovative making process, she bridges traditional Asian lacquer culture and experimental approaches to material. This work was nominated as finalist for the 2022 Loewe Craft Prize.
