These wooden bowls made from sweet chestnut move at the smallest of touches. By using carved or painted lines Stefan Behr highlights the form of the bowl and directs our attention towards their centre. The movement of the pieces also draws attention to the centre. To create contrasts, Stefan often uses a rough and chaotic look on the outside and sands the inside to a smooth finish. 11/2017 (left) is carved and painted. 12/2017 (right) is carved and fumed with ammonia.
