Textile

This handwoven textile piece brings together a traditional Bahraini grass fibre called asal and hand spun sheep wool from Riyadh dyed with Bahraini date seeds. It was inspired by traditional wizar fabrics and explores ways to work with plant and animal fibres sourced locally to create a more geometric pattern. The wool and asal create a sharp contrast through a hard and a more rigid weave in comparision to a soft wool weave.
