Still Silence, The Blue Moon Jar

These jars by Junho Hwang were created by attaching hundreds of textile pieces to reclaimed porcelain vessels. The fabric was cut into rectangular shapes, tied with beads, cable ties and hydroballs, then coated with glue and attached to the surfaces. Still Silence draws on the tranquility evoked by the moon jar’s stable form, expressing a sense of quiet contemplation through a gradient of neutral tones bleached from black denim. The Blue Moon embodies the calming effect of daytime moonlight, using metallic fabric and cable ties in blue tones, with hues that shift with the viewer’s perspective.
