Casting About

This sculpture by Deborah Smith was crafted by inserting round reed ribs into drilled driftwood to create a frame. Smaller gauge reed was then woven into this frame. Acrylic paint was used to colour and seal the finished work. Evoking the restless beauty of moving water, the piece suggests a searching motion, eddying, turning, never fully resolved.
