All That's Left Of Color

This sculpture by Yulia Batyrova and Marat Mukhametov combines a concrete structural core with porcelain elements fixed to an internal metal armature. Some components were made from a mixture of pigmented porcelain slip and papier-mâché, producing porous yet durable fired forms. Exploring the interdependent relationship between order and chaos, the work captures a moment of temporary equilibrium, reduced to form and stripped of color.
