©All rights reservedLarge charred ash dune vessel
This sculpture by Oliver Chalk was lathe turned and carved from a 120-year-old ash tree, before being charred and burnished. Natural flaws, such as knots and holes, were deliberately retained and emphasised as focal points. Exploring embossed textures, recesses and grooves, the piece aims at awakening tactile sensibility.
