Plunder I

This sculpture by Clare Celeste Börsch was crafted from papier mâché over a metal structure. Gold paper was crumpled at its base and paper butterflies attached with wire. Depicting two colonial ships navigating into a sea of gold, the piece symbolises the colonisation of the Americas by Portuguese and Spanish powers.
