This sculpture was made from an 18th-century lacemaker’s magnifying glass, palladium and mother-of-pearl. It pays tribute to textile memory, to the lacemaker women in Marie De Decker’s family, to femininity and to her Flemish roots. The pearls, like drops of water once belonging to her grandmother, trace the paths of the rivers and cities she journeyed through.
