Learning an Earth Language, Resident Boomslang

These sculptures by Belinda Blignaut were crafted from hand-foraged materials. These include skins shed by boomslang snakes, wild clay from riverbeds and plant ash used as glaze. Seeking complex surfaces and unpredictable textures, the pieces embody their own making process, from the form through to the foraged materials and the texts roughly written into the clay.
