Vanitas with wasp’s nest
This elaborately carved gilt wood, bone and antler sculpture references the vanitas painting tradition. Crystals expand from the gesso underlay while plant forms reach above and descend from an antique frame embedded with pearls. Other details include teeth, shells and a wasp’s nest. The heart-like form is removable.
