This appliqué quilt is a self-portrait of the artist, Gary Tyler. It draws on an image widely used in the media for the ‘Free Gary Tyler’ campaign, and is in black and white with a checkered brown and white border. It depicts him in his late 30s or early 40s, and marks his election as representative for the dormitory units at the prison.
