©Myra Mimlitsch-GrayThumbthing
This tray includes feet or handles as places for the thumb to rest. The surface is alive with colourful splats of red over the avocado green of old appliances. It was made in enamelware to evoke the picnic, campfire or clinic. There is tension between the glassy skin and unconventional form and between gesture and structure in a material parody.
