Illuminating Big Water Tóhtsohnii
This rectangular Navajo tapestry is hand woven from hand spun and dyed wool. Finished with blue yarn tassels at each corner, it depicts a river landscape. The river, woven with illusionistic light and ripple effects, retreats into a brown landscape against a graduated sky of blue hues. A subtle strip of warm light hangs low on the horizon line.
