Sakewares of octopus and squid
This sakeware features auspicious patterns of under-glaze painting in the Shonzui style from China’s Ming Dynasty. Made from porcelain clay, it is hand-shaped to resemble typical sakeware but with small twists. A squid and octopus are painted on the surface, appearing to move beyond their frames.
