Resting urn

This urn sculpture was hand built from earthenware. The hand carved design on the outside is made while the clay is still bone dry, giving it a distressed and stone-like appearance. The textured form on the top of the lid adds an eternal quality, while the high fired black under glazed stain highlights the nuances of the surface.
