The bowl was turned from an ash tree of over 100 years old. The ledge and the exterior of the bowl have fine grooves to optically emphasise the grain of the annual rings in the wood. The bowl was then stained, waxed and the inside coloured with a strong shade of red. The surface was then repeatedly varnished in order to obtain this high gloss basin.
