©ASAHIYAKIChawan tea bowl
This is a traditional Asahiyaki Kase style tea bowl made with the fine-grained soil of Uji, that is mined and left for aging over a half century before use. The unique pattern resembles deer's spots, created by the characteristics of the clay and the firing process using split pine wood in a climbing kiln. It is a reinterpretation of the Korai tea bowl called "ido" in the Asahiyaki style.
