Before focusing on sculpture, Troy Emery briefly studied fashion and textiles, developing a love of the colourful decorative components found in fabric and haberdashery stores in the process. Today, his textile-led sculptural practice interrogates our position in the natural world via figurative forms and imagery. Troy’s work examines his personal anxiety along with a collective anxiety around the human relationship with nature. He lives and works in Melbourne and has exhibited widely across Australia and internationally. His pieces are held in public collections across Australia.
