The reframing of embroidery towards architecture

Studio MTX is a French Maison d’art founded in 2013 as an independent studio within Atelier Haute Couture Montex, to bring the art of embroidery into the realm of interior architecture. Studio MTX's mission is to harness its heritage expertise in embroidery to create bespoke pieces for architectural projects. Embroidery is freed from its traditional framework and repositioned for the making of vertical spaces and moving structures.

From intricate details on furniture to architectural installations, Studio MTX explores new techniques and combinations of materials to develop innovative surfaces at new scales. Each creative project emerges from a collaborative process of extensive research, sampling and prototyping, and is tailored to the specific character of each client. As part of CHANEL’s Métiers d’Art ecosystem since 2011, and as resident of le19M, Studio MTX has been under the artistic direction of Mathieu Bassée since 2017.
