The savoir-faire behind French contemporary design

Kostia Art & Design Studio was founded in 2012 by Constantin Laan, an artist-designer who tells a story through each piece of furniture he creates. He works with a variety of materials including bronze, wood and lacquer, creating objects that blur the boundaries between furniture and art. His studio brings together seven highly skilled artisans dedicated to creating timeless pieces. Each object is the result of in-depth research into materials and colours, enriched through experimentation with modelling, patinas, gold leaf drawing and textured sculpture.

In February 2025, Kostia launched its new gallery, designed as an exhibition space, which opens the doors to a previously more confidential world. The gallery presents furniture artworks, wooden panels, suspended curtains and objects inspired by traditional decorative art. The studio collaborates on exclusive projects with passionate collectors. Some of its creations have been acquired by the Mobilier National. Based in Paris, Kostia has been exhibited at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Berlin during the European Artistic Crafts Days (JEMA) in 2018 and 2025, as well as at the Petit Palais in 2026 for The Art of Making. The studio also participates in major events such as the Collectible design fair in Brussels with Galerie Scène Ouverte, Art Paris with IDEAT magazine, and PAD London with Galerie Dutko.
