Kobina Adusah came into ceramics by accident. He applied to study commercial graphic design at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, but was placed in the ceramics department instead. Kobina approached the craft as a challenge, quickly developing his distinctive visual language. "Today I create monumental works with intuitive, rhythmic hand carved surfaces," he says. After graduating in 2023, he worked as teaching assistant, deepening his practice and knowledge of clay before pursuing an MFA in ceramics three years later. The turning point in Kobina's career came when he was selected as a 2025 finalist in the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize. "It felt like I was dreaming," he explains. He finds inspiration in tradition, ancestry and Greek amphorae, as well as modern architecture and infrastructure.
