Advocates of local woodcarving heritage
Edilson and Eduard Castrillón are keepers of a carpentry legacy originating in 19th century Antioquia, a region which had a flourishing coffee industry. Salamina, their hometown, is one of the few colonial villages that still preserves ornate architectural elements, such as carved wooden beams, doors, window frames and beautiful open work friezes in natural and coloured finishes. Edilson and Eduard inherited their father’s workshop, Muebles Castri, which he had founded in the early 1980s.
The two brothers received vocational carpentry training and took up their father's workshop at the start of the millennium, settling in Salamina to contribute to the preservation of master Eliseo Tangarife's legacy and the region's rich heritage.
