It was a true revelation when Caroline Prégermain discovered stained glass, she knew instantly that it would be her field. In her Parisian workshop, opened in 1986, Caroline constantly challenges the thousand-year-old craft. Through her various decorative projects, she reveals a graphic style as she revives stained glass with a contemporary expression. Drawing and glass painting are her specialities, but she likes to divert techniques, exploring the interplay of transparency and colours. With her traditional savoir-faire and creativity, she adapts her creations to the location and the light of the surrounding environment. Caroline works mainly for architects and private clients.

INTERVIEW
It varies, I always get inspired by the place, the client, the architect. I enjoy real collaborations; they always lead to surprising projects. I like when ideas are different and blend together.
The first years were not easy. I set up my workshop in a space that my father owned. As a woman starting out in this craft, it was difficult to gain recognition. I had to face remarks such as "go get your father”.
I would say that I play with methods. I try to evolve my expertise especially through drawing and painting. I innovate enhancing techniques; for example by creating new visual renderings.
It is an art directly linked to France, which holds a veritable savoir-faire in stained glass. Perpetuating this craft is very dear to me, which is also why I try to take on young interns.
